ARTIST
SEATTLE TRUMPET CONSORT

The Seattle Trumpet Consort was founded in 2001 to explore the repertoire for natural trumpet ensemble. we perform exclusively on baroque trumpets (without valves), patterned after the leading instruments of the 18th Century, and strive to recreate the timbres and balances that the musicians of the time would recognize. Our use of timpani in historic style, with calfskin heads and authentic mallets, completes the unique sonority that the consort produces. The use of period instruments provides the listener with insight into the timbre, phrasing, and balance that cannot be achieved using modern valved instruments. The ensemble also strives to realize the subtle differences among the various composer's unique styles and sensibilities.
Members of the Seattle Trumpet Consort perform exclusively on baroque trumpets by Frank Tomes, Adolf Egger & Sons, and Naumann Trumpets after 18th Century instruments from Nurnberg, Germany. Timpani by GP Percussion after a pair of baroque drums in the Gemente Museum in the Hague.
